Arbuscular mycorrhizas (AM) are important for mineral nutrition of plants, protection against plant pathogens and reclamation of degraded lands. Fungi forming this kind of mycorrhizas are unable to grow in axenic culture. However, they can be applied successfully in cultures that have a nursery or seed-bed stage before transplantation to the field.
