During the forty years of the Communist régime in Czechoslovakia (1948–1989), the literary agency DILIA formed the official link between Czech and Slovak authors and foreign publishers. DILIA ensured contracts for Czech translations of foreign literary works. As the archives of DILIA were destroyed by a fire in 1986, very little is known about how DILIA functioned.
