The 1949 Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany is the first constitution establishing the so-called constructive vote of no confidence as a procedure of execution of government’s parliamentary responsibility. This legal institution was later engrafted into constitutions of several states. The article contains a comparative analysis of the German prototype and its counterparts in Spanish, Belgian, Slovenian, Hungarian and Polish constitutions.
