This article addresses the work of Dutch painter Frieda Hunziker, more specifically the paintings she made in the 1950s. This text was elaborated based on documents present at the Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis (RKD) and in the archives of the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. In this museum, an exhibition about the artist was held from April to September 2023, called Vlucht naar Curaçao. The exhibition argues that a trip made by Hunziker to Curaçao, between 1952 and 1953, was fundamental to its production. As will be discussed throughout the text, I intend to argue that this importance was not as great as the exhibition insists. General aspects of her work will also be explored, as well as her participation in the São Paulo Biennial. ; Este artigo analisa a obra da pintora holandesa Frieda Hunziker, mais especificamente as pinturas feitas por ela na década de 1950. Este texto foi formulado a partir dos documentos encontrados no Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis (RKD) e nos arquivos do Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. Neste museu, foi realizada uma exposição sobre artista de abril a setembro de 2023, chamada Vlucht naar Curaçao. A exposição afirma que uma viagem feita por Hunziker a Curaçao, entre 1952 e 1953, foi fundamental para sua produção. Conforme será discutido ao longo do texto, pretendo argumentar que essa importância não foi tão grande quanto a exposição insiste. Também serão explorados aspectos gerais de sua obra, bem como sua participação na Bienal de São Paulo.
