Abstract: The “Hohes Venn” extends over the elevated plains of the western “Eifel” (Germany) and the “Ardennen” (Belgium). In comparison with other Central European mountain peat lands the vegetation is florageographical characterized by Atlantic kinds. Apart from a conception of the remarkable plants the vegetation is classified for the first time according to the form of vegetation concept. Here for the “Hohes Venn” typical forms of vegetation were separated, which are more near described. Beside the forms of vegetation of raised bogs are different forms of vegetation of transition mires of European importance. ; Zusammenfassung: Das Hohe Venn erstreckt sich über die Hochebenen der westlichen Eifel und der Ardennen. Im Ver- gleich mit anderen mitteleuropäischen Gebirgsmooren ist die Vegetation florengeographisch durch atlantische Arten gekennzeichnet. Neben einer Vorstellung der bemerkenswerten Pflanzen wird die Vegetation erstmals nach dem Vegetationsformenkonzept klassifiziert. Hierbei wurden für das Hohe Venn typische Vegetationsformen ausgeschieden, die näher beschrieben werden. Neben den Vegetationsformen der Regenmoore sind verschiedene Vegetationsformen der Zwischenmoore von europäischer Bedeutung. ; DFG, SUB Göttingen, DGMT ; research
