Calling learning to account - A year since the national launch of Individual Learning Accounts by the Government, their take-up by employees has soared past the one million mark. The accounts are a government -inspired attempt to spread the learning message to adult workers, offering discounts and, until recently, GBP150 subsidy per person. We explain the workings of the accounts, and examine the implications of this initiative for employers' training policies.
