Added values - Corporate values are sometimes grouped together with vision and mission statements, and dismissed as a "soft" issue - yet many organisations have introduced a formal set of values in recent years. Those that have done so are clear about the benefits that will come from what has been described as "a small set of guiding principles". And many claim that the tactic has realised at least some of these objectives. An IRS survey of 48 organisations looks in detail at the values operated by a panel of 34 employers, and what the future holds for the 14 respondents that do not currently have a formal set of values. Our analysis is complemented by an examination of the use of corporate values by the top 100 FTSE companies.
