How West Sussex led the way on Job evaluation - Our ease study examines how West Sussex County Council and Unison carried out a joint job evaluation exercise, followed by a pay modelling process, matching job evaluation scores to new grade boundaries for 13,000 employees covered by the single-status deal. Workers at the council were notified in June of their job evaluation score and position in a new harinonised 12-grade structure, effective from 1 April 2000. No employee is to lose money in 2000-01 as a result of assimilation to the new structure, and the couneil estimates that the new arrangements will cost an additional GBP5 million on its paybill over the next six years.
