Recommendation on the risks of tuberculosis and cysticercosis in veal calves
The causative agents of tuberculosis in cattle, Mycobacterium bovis and the tapeworm Taenia saginata, can be transmitted from cattle to humans (zoonoses). Amongst others, meat inspections are intended to identify animals that carrys such pathogenes. The inspection procedures are described in considerable detail in Regulation EC no. 854/2004.
