This study investigates the specificities of the Luxembourg environment in the context of the global private equity industry and the characteristics that will ensure its position as a private equity hub in the long term. Building up as a case study and adopting a qualitative approach, data was collected by conducting interviews with seven stakeholders of the Luxembourg private equity industry. The insights gained from the interviews together with the findings from the review of publications by financial organisations and consulting companies allowed to assess Luxembourg’s position in the global ecosystem and to define the specific features of the country’s private equity business. The subsequent SWOT analysis identifies main assets such as its stability, its active approach to externalities and its support of innovative businesses. The major weaknesses comprise the limited capacity of the country as well as its distance to investors and portfolio companies. If data were made accessible, further research might be recommended such as a sound quantitative study of the overall return, cost and risk of private equity firms in Luxembourg. ; Master [120] en sciences de gestion, Université catholique de Louvain, 2017 ; Master [120] en sciences de gestion, Université catholique de Louvain, 2017
