Sermon discusses history of the church, founded in 1846 (later called Wayne Street Reformed Church). Van Cleef was the second pastor to lead the church. Discusses changes in the area from time of founding through 1870, during which time Jersey City was transformed from rural Dutch community to a cosmopolitan manufacturing center.
