Portrait of Jean de la Chambre at the Age of 33

Jean de la Chambre (1605/6 - 1668), who is shown holding a quill, was a distinguished calligrapher and Master of the French School in Ursulasteeg, Haarlem. This small portrait seems to have been used as a modello for an engraving (in the same direction) by J. Suyderhoef in 1638, used as the frontispiece for a book published by De la Chambre which contains six examples of his own calligraphic skill. (http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk)
