The gravestone of William Dutcher, descendant of Barent Dutcher, an early settler in the Irvington, N.Y. area. William Dutcher was an early patriot farmer who purchased land confiscated from Loyalist Frederick Philipse III after the Revolutionary War. The Dutcher farm was one of the four large farms that comprised the area now known as Irvington. The gravestone reads, 'In Memory of William Dutcher who departed this life, June 19, 1843, aged 68 years, 1 M's & 26 D's.
