Racist bullying can be defined as a form of bullying based on one’s skin color, ethnicity, cultural, or religious background (Goldberg, 2006). It is influenced by racist norms and values that circulate in societies, which are then expressed in schools (Jones et al., 2023). Teachers are responsible for meeting children’s safety needs by creating a safe social and inclusive environment since children spend considerable time in school. Teachers also have an important role in recognizing and responding to racist bullying and preventing it in order to maintain this safe environment. This, however, is very challenging and therefore teachers need to be better prepared to contribute productively to discussing race and racism in class (Vass, 2013).
