Een invasie van de Parelkwal Pelagia noctiluca (Forskål, 1775) langs de Belgische kust
During the period 25, 26 and 27 September 1990 several findings of washed ashore Jellyfish Pelagia noctiluca (Forskål, 1775) along the Belgian coast were noticed. The findings were made at shores at Oostende and De Panne. On later data: 28, 29 and 30 September the species could not be found anymore. Apart from one older record (1929:juvinile specimen at Zeebrugge) this is the first time that P. noctiluca is found in such number (between 3 and 129) washed ashore in Belgium. We may here certainly speak of an invasion of this southern species, which most probably happened via water from The Chann... Mehr ...
