peer reviewed ; This paper has two objects : the first is to present the major contributions of the 18th May Workshop about economic development and the second is to sharpen some concepts thanks to some works made on this thematic. Based on presentations and discussions during the two roundtables, six factors of territorial competitiveness were underlined; these are innovation, training, network, identity, strategic management and governance. Moreover, five thrusts were proposed with the aim of making Wallonia change and the main tool of competitiveness was located with regards to clusters. Furthermore, in the continuity of the Workshop, we tried to make clear some new concepts of territorial development like attractiveness and competitiveness, as well as industrial district, cluster, innovative environment, local productive system and competitive cluster. ; L'objectif de cet article est double : rendre compte des apports majeurs du Workshop du 18 mai consacré au développement économique et affiner certains concepts en s'appuyant sur quelques travaux consacrés à la même thématique. Sur base des exposés et échanges générés par les deux tables rondes, six facteurs de compétence territoriale ont pu être mis en évidence ; ce sont : l'innovation, la formation, les réseaux, l'identité, une gestion stratégique et la gouvernance. En outre, cinq axes ont été imaginés pour forcer le changement en Wallonie et l'outil pôle de compétitivité a été situé par rapport aux clusters.
