The objective of this research work is to determine the incidence of the application of environmental regulations in the regulation of the exploitation of hydrocarbons in the municipality of Sabanalarga, reviewing these regulations, specifying the type of extraction and exploitation techniques applicable for the obtaining natural gas, finally contrasting the regulatory provisions and the measures applied in the exploitation of natural gas. Hydrocarbon operations generate many benefits, managing to support the economy of a country, including Colombia, but they also generate pollution damage to the environment that can be of great dimensions, all of which is regulated with the Regulations that they limit them. The applied methodology corresponds to a descriptive investigation with the application of techniques such as observation, applied to residents of neighborhoods located in the area where hydrocarbon exploitation processes are carried out in the municipality of Sabanalarga Atlántico. As a result, environmental regulations are identified within the legal framework whose observance could not be verified in the municipality where there is contamination resulting from the exploitation and exploration of natural gas, which has caused great damage to its inhabitants.
