The present study was carried out in the rural area of the department of Arauca, in the Orinoquía region, Colombia. A total of 1351 faecal samples from dual purpose cattle were collected and processed using the Baerman coprological technique for the detection of Dictyocaulus viviparus. Se recolectaron 1351 muestras de heces de bovinos doble propósito que se procesaron mediante la técnica coprológica de Baerman para la detección de Dictyocaulus viviparus. Se reporta una prevalencia de 1.7% de D. vivarus en Arauca, cuyas condiciones medioambientales son consideradas adversas para el desarrollo del nematodo y que no coinciden con las tradicionalmente reportadas en el país y en el mundo.
