The opening of Latin American writers to the avant-garde aesthetic currents during the 1940s (twentieth century) allowed the introduction of existentialist ideas in the literary field. From this, there was an inclination towards the production of works that deal with issues of this movement such as historicity, existential angst, nonharmony of social relations and disappointment with the project of modernity.
