This article brings a reflection on the situation of literary criticism in the contemporary written press in Latin America, especially in literary supplements. The experience of the supplement Sabático (2010-2013) is presented and discussed, both considering the history of culture supplements in O Estado de S. Paulo (mainly the Suplemento Literário 1956 to 1974) and the contemporary environment in which the section has developed (in contrast to other efforts like the Caderno de Resenhas [1994-2004] of the Folha de São Paulo).
