Among the constructions the Muslims built in the capital of al-Andalus that have raised the most interest amongst both the scientific community and the inhabitants of Cordoba are the elevated passageways, called sābāṭāt Arabic, connected the Mosque to the Alcazar from the 9th century on. The recent renovation of Torrijos Street has uncovered the foundations of these sābāṭāt, ironically just a few centimetres underneath the present cobbled street.
