Herein, we isolate the rate-determining intermediate species in the photo-assisted Sabatier reaction on La promoted NiO x /TiO 2 by in-situ isotopic spectroscopy. Specifically, adsorbed intermediate species formed during the photo-assisted Sabatier reaction were directly probed using Steady-State Isotopic Kinetic Analysis coupled with Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (SSITKA-DRIFTS).
