Background. - Anaemia and coagulopathy are common issues in critically ill patients. Transfusion can be lifesaving, however, is associated with potential life threatening adverse events. As an international transfusion guideline for this specific patient population is lacking, we hypothesize that a high heterogeneity in transfusion practices exists.
