In 1950, the Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk (NHK) adopted a new Church Order, after having lived for over 130 years under an order given to her by King William I after the fall oJ Napoleon. Hoedemaker, the issue of the place and function of the confessions of the Church in the Church Order have occupied an important role in the discussion of the Church. This article will concern itself with the relation of the Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk to her written confessions. Because the subject is so large, it will be possible to indicate only a few of the points of her thought.
