Towards performance measurement of economics research in the Netherlands

In this paper some crucial elements in the changing nature of science policy and evaluation of scientific research are discussed. These observations are then used as a frame of reference for the design of a new system for performance assessment and judgment of economics research in the Netherlands, which is now being tested.
