Compared with the routinely used 'semi-closed breathing systems' the 'Closed Circuit System' seemed to offer several advantages. Investigations were made to evaluate the potendal advantages of closed circuit anesthesia in a general hospital in The Netherlands where an anesthesiologist is responsible for more than one anesthesia at the same time.
