The article approaches the thinker of Hannah Arendt through two figures present in her life and in her work: Rosa Luxemburg and Socrates. Arendt’s childhood and adolescence take place in an environment of political involvement whose central axis was admiration for the figure of Rosa Luxemburg. Marta Arendt, Hannah’s mother, was the first source of transmisión of Rosa Luxemburg’s ideals to her daughter, and within these ideals, freedom occupied a central place.
