This articles examines the international status of Luxembourg between 1815 and 1867 from the perspective of the international law applicable at that time and based on the relevant state practice. It contends that - from the perspective of international law - Luxembourg emerged as a state after the evacuation of Belgian troops from its territory in 1839.
