The aim of this paper is to contribute to ongoing considerations on daily mobility conceived of as a « sociospatial fact », being both spatial interaction and social interaction. It does so by laying the foundations of a theoretical approach, setting daily trips into their spatial, and particularly territorial, base. Structured interviews (n=9), conducted in Luxembourg, both nourished the theoretical reflection and allowed to collect the individual representations of mobility and of their living environment. Results suggest that daily trips and the residential base form a system of spatial insertion, a way of living, based on which individuals see and live the city, thus opening the way towards an ecological approach to mobility.
