Etta Cone and Claribel Cone seated on a bench at the beach in Scheveningen, Holland. The photograph was taken during Etta and Claribel's trip to Europe with Carrie Gutman and their cousin Aimee Guggenheimer in the summer of 1903. The women spent time in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as Paris and London. The 1901 edition of the travel guide that they used on this trip, Belgium and Holland, Including the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg: Handbook for Travellers by K. Baedeker, calls Scheveningen "the most fashionable watering-[place] in Holland."
