University President Ernest O. Holland participating in a ground breaking ceremony at the future site of the library named for him. Students stand behind him to the left while seated dignitaries are seated to the right. The picture provides a clear view of the Gymnasium-Armory, later called Old Women's Gym, and by the time of this image, the TUB (Temporary Union Building). Built by Josenhans and Allen in 1902 at a cost of $9,749 the TUB was torn down in 1954. The TUB originally stood on the site of the present Terrell Library.
