It was 1820 when the Hispanist Lord Holland published a booklet on the supression of the Jesuits from Hispanic monarchy’s territories, an order decreed in 1767 by Carlos III. Although it was an event that shocked Seventeenth-century Europe it is striking it was published 53 years after the banishment of those regulars of the Society of Jesus, what verified that even then, those events aroused genuine interest.
