Photographic portrait of Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Charles Alvin Orr in later life, who served as a Private in the Union Army, 187th New York Volunteer Infantry, Company G. He was awarded the Medal of Honor at Hatcher's Run, Virginia (October 27, 1864) for voluntarily and under fire, together with two others, rescuing several wounded and helpless soldiers. Comrade Orr was Commander of the G.A. R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Chapin Post No. 2 of Buffalo, New York for 21 years.
