Old Elmendorf Tavern (Holland House) Built in 1726, Kingston, N.Y.
The Old Elmendorf Tavern on the corner of Fair Street and Maiden Lane is one of the oldest buildings still standing from pre-revolutionary Kingston times. Its primary namesake was Conrad Elmendorf (sometimes spelled Elmendorph in older documents). By 1777, this house had been the spot where the Committee of Safety met, the local governing body during the Revolutionary war.
