Jan Fabre's dialogue of body and death is based on a body of theatrical texts. Jan Fabre's dialogue of body and death is based on a body of theatrical texts. Regarding to the approach of my work, it was mainly focused on three main aspects, first the inheritances and the artistic and cultural inspirations, then the ritual and the sacrifice in its historical philosophical and artistic dimension, and finally the production of the performance: from genesis to scenic representation. The goal of my thesis is to demonstrate the artist's desire to overcome the limits, to violate the codes of society and to create an authentic artistic language inspired by all possible materials to touch the vulnerability of contemporary man. To do this Jan Fabre has developed a method of work that rediscover a body raw and instinctive, a body generating a vital energy and resulting in strong sensations. In this work process I noticed that for Fabre the notion of research has a primordial place based on a conceptual, philosophical and historical evolution. Jan Fabre builds his performances so that all the components of the performance interweave. A singular textual and visual writing constructs a sort of post-mortem state in the sense that logic is ceded to intuition, a writing that offers a scenic universe rich in images and allegories. A scenic composition where space, time and rhythm are based mainly on tension and the development of a ritual atmosphere.
