The effects of recent changes in breeding preferences on maintaining traditional Dutch chicken genomic diversity

A paper produced in the frame of the H2020 project 677353 'Innovative Management of Animal GEnetic resources'.* It explores the consequences of breeding practices on the structure of genetic diversity in chickens, using 60K SNP genotyping data. It compares allelic diversity and genomic inbeeding betweentraditional breeds and commercial lines and provides a focus on the bantamisation process applied by Dutch breeders. ; The chicken breed associations and the Center for Genetic Resources are acknowledged for providing samples to this study.
