My Dad, Brian Robert Thomas was born on 27.04.1927 in Barry, South Glamorgan. He was involved in the end of the Second World War, when he signed up for firstly the Navy, then the Marines. He said he was 'imaginative' about his true age to start with as he would have been too young to join up otherwise! Dad was a talented musician and played trumpet and cornet in The Royal Marines Band. He also drove trucks and other vehicles for the U.S. forces at a nearby base in South Wales. His claim to fame was once driving a staff car containing Winston Churchill's daughter in Holland.
