Instructional documents in Spanish and in Dutch : do they really differ?

Literature on intercultural technical communication suggests that cultural differences influence communication variables. however, there does not seem te be a convincing empirical base upon which the bold assumptions in scientific and practical publications van be founded. A smal-scale study was carried out to look for culture-related textual differences in user manuals from Spain and the Netherlands. The results do not support the assumptions made in the literature.
