Detail of face and collar ; Signed and dated lower right: Rembrandt / f. 1640. This represents the Amsterdam ebony worker Herman Doomer (c. 1595-1650). The pendant portrait of Doomer's wife, Baertje Martens (c. 1596-1678), is in the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg.
