Jacob Hendrik Melchers was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1889 and immigrated to the United States in 1908. He settled in Orange City, Iowa, and married Dena Ada Meiras in 1920. Melchers also lived in Grand Meadow, Minnesota; Maurice and Sioux City, Iowa; and Huntington, Indiana. Collection contains photographs, checks, German marks, and birth, marriage, citizenship, and death documents.
