Filial obligations among immigrants and native Dutch: a comparison of perceptions and behaviour among ethnic groups and generations

The aims of this chapter are threefold. First of all, we ask whether perceptions and behaviour regarding filial obligations differ between immigrants and the Dutch. Secondly, we explore whether there are differences in perceptions between generations among each of the ethnic groups.Finally, we analyse actual support behaviour in immigrant and Dutch families and question the importance of filial norms for such support.
