The glue that holds us together : history, identity, and the Reformed Church in America
During the last five years, there has been considerable discussion in the Reformed Church in America (RCA) over the question of denominational identity. Faced with declining numbers, the RCA tried to become a more diverse, less Dutch church. But without the Dutchness, many asked, what made this a denomination? At the 1984 meeting of the General Synod, President Leonard Kalkwarf asked: "What is the glue that holds us together?"
