This article assesses the tenure of the seventh Bishop of Brazil, D. Pedro da Silva de Sampaio, during the fifteen years in which he directed the diocese of São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos do Estado do Brasil. The prelate, during his entire episcopal government, acted against the Dutch military incursions into the Recôncavo of Bahia and Salvador, then capital of the colony, therefore took a leading role in a project that destabilized the dutch government, through the clandestine admission of catholic priests in the northeastern captaincies of Brazil. ; Este artículo investiga la trayec... El prelado, a lo largo de su gobierno episcopal, actuó en contra de las incursiones militares holandesas en el Reconcavo de la Bahia y Salvador, entonces capital de la colonia, además de conducir el proyecto que desestabilizo el gobierno holandés, a través de la entrada ilegal de sacerdotes católicos en las capitanías del norte del Brasil. [pt] O presente artigo investiga a trajetória do sétimo Bispo do Brasil, D. Pedro da Silva de Sampaio, nos quinze anos em que dirigiu a diocese de São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos do Estado do Brasil. O prelado, durante todo o seu governo episcopal, agiu contra as incursões militares neerlandesas ao Recôncavo baiano e Salvador, então capital da colônia, além de chefiar o projeto que desestabilizou o governo holandês por meio da admissão clandestina de sacerdotes católicos nas Capitanias do Norte do Brasil.
