Dutch Elm Disease beetle model

The Dutch Elm disease exhibit case was first installed at the Museum in 1956 in Stanley Field Hall. The case was redesigned later moved to the Hall 26 North American Trees. The exhibit case displayed a combination of photographs, pamphlets and a model of the elm bark-beetle Hylurgopinus rufipes that was made by Samuel H. Grove, Jr., staff artist-preparator. The model is 80 times life-size and is 5 1/2 in. wide x 11 in. length x 4 in. height x 12 in. diameter of the abdomen of the model.
