Background and purpose — A lifetime perspective on revision risks is needed for optimal timing of arthroplasty in osteoarthritis (OA) patients, weighing the benefit of total hip arthroplasty/total knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA) against the risk of revision, after which outcomes are less favorable.
