Within the Open Research Information Agenda, open metadata can play a role in several ways: as primary source for persistent identifiers (PIDs) and accompanying metadata for research output, both for direct filling of CRIS systems as for national systems such as UKBSis and a national PID graph, and as secondary source for enrichment of existing records (from CRIS systems), by adding missing PIDs and metadata.
