QSMs, point cloud and harvest data from a destructive forest biomass experiment in Belgium using terrestrial laser scanning ...
This dataset contains the point clouds, quantitative structure models (QSM) and destructively sampled reference mass and density of 65 trees. A part of this dataset was used in Demol et al. (2021) https://doi.org/10.1007/s00468-020-02067-7 and many details about the site and data collection can be found in this publication. The point cloud data was collected with a RIEGL VZ-1000 and VZ-400 time-of-flight laser scanner at five sites, covering four species ( Fagus sylvatica , Pinus sylvestris , Fraxinus excelsior , Larix decidua ) on windless and days without precipitation. The scans were coregi... Mehr ...

The scans were coregistered in RiScanPro. Single trees were extracted from the forest scene using treeseg (https://github.com/apburt/treeseg) and filtered using a deviation filter (max 12), and reflectance filter (min -17 dB), and then downsampled to a point spacing of 10 or 15 mm. We used TreeQSM v.2.3 (https://github.com/InverseTampere/TreeQSM) to build QSMs from single tree point clouds. Fresh total tree mass was measured on-site after ...
