“This does not mean that the majority of Belgians have become racist”: Valorisation of Belgium and Belgian journalists as antiracist amid a denunciation of racism in the press discourses
In 2018, a Black weathercaster’s video denouncing racism led to a unique moment in the French-speaking Belgian media, with a large number of articles carrying “antiracist” discourses. Based on a press corpus focusing on the event (112 articles), we decided to use critical discourse analysis in order to observe the social representations that are conveyed by the journalistic discourse.
