Contribution of groundwater to greenhouse gases emissions - Lessons learned from case studies in the Walloon region of Belgium

Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are an environmental issue because their concentrations in the atmosphere have been continuously increasing. Agricultural practices represents up to one third of anthropogenic emissions of GHGs such as nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), which all contribute to climate change and N2O to stratospheric ozone destruction.
