The authors report the discovery of a very rich and well preserved ostracod fauna in the lower part of the Famennian at Sinsin (southern border of the Dinant Basin, Belgium). This assemblage is poorly diversified - 98% of the ostracod fauna is composed of five species - and is indicative of a shallow marine environment. The valves of ostracods are frequently found in "saucer stack" arrangement in the base of the Famennian.
